Credit Notes

This guide explains how to issue a credit note to a customer (e.g., for returned goods or billing errors).

Creating a Credit Note

Navigate to Accounts Receivable > Transactions > Credit Notes > Create Credit Note.

Header Details

  1. Date: Date of issue.
  2. Customer: Select the customer.
  3. Invoice: (Required) Select the original invoice you are crediting.

Items

The system will load the items from the selected invoice.

  1. Edit Quantities: Adjust the quantity to match what is being returned/credited.
  2. Remove Lines: If some items are not being returned, remove those lines.

Impact

  • The Credit Note will reduce the customer's outstanding balance.
  • Inventory levels will increase (for returned inventory items).
  • Revenue Accounts will be reversed.
