Credit Notes
This guide explains how to issue a credit note to a customer (e.g., for returned goods or billing errors).
Creating a Credit Note
Navigate to Accounts Receivable > Transactions > Credit Notes > Create Credit Note.
Header Details
- Date: Date of issue.
- Customer: Select the customer.
- Invoice: (Required) Select the original invoice you are crediting.
Items
The system will load the items from the selected invoice.
- Edit Quantities: Adjust the quantity to match what is being returned/credited.
- Remove Lines: If some items are not being returned, remove those lines.
Impact
- The Credit Note will reduce the customer's outstanding balance.
- Inventory levels will increase (for returned inventory items).
- Revenue Accounts will be reversed.
